Akron & Westfield Growth Alliance

Our community is a great place to live, work, play and raise a family! The Akron & Westfield Growth Alliance is a new nonprofit organization that is building on the positive momentum underway in our communities. 

The formation of the Akron & Westfield Growth Alliance is a result of the Community Heart & Soul Program model that was launched and successfully completed in the communities.  Known locally as “Stronger Together:  Akron & Westfield Heart & Soul,” the four-phase program included gathering community feedback, developing value statements and identifying action steps to meet community needs and interests.

Our goal is to support community members who have new ideas to make our communities even better places to live, work and play!  Projects that we've supported include:

• Planting flowers and perennial plants at Akron Aquatic Center and Akron City Park
• Big Sioux Outdoor Expo (Winner of 2024 GROW Challenge!)
• Free seed library located at Akron Lumber Company
• Akron Trails project fundraisers including Color Run and Turkey Trot
• Silver cord program at Akron-Westfield CSD  

The AWGA board meets quarterly to review new project requests and status of ongoing projects.
